The Da Vinci Villa is a super cute place to crash. It’s a converted midcentury motel. Cheap, accessible to MUNI lines, and it has a good cheap Dim Sum place attached. Get your hipster traveler on.
ThisĀ pinball place is off a street in Upper Haight. All the tables are collector-owned. Be careful – you can easily blow through $20 in a night, just playing the games.

This experience is definitely not one for the kids – you’re entering into complete and total darkness, and can be a little scary. There are sounds that are relaxing, and sounds that are jarring – it’s not so much a music experience as an auditory one.
Built into the Marina District, this unique spot is located just past the Golden Gate Yacht Club. It was created in 1986 by the Exploratorium. The organ is made out of PVC pipes that connect to the bottom of the bay. The pipes make different sounds when the waves hit them. It’s a truly magical experience.
Expect long waits, especially on the weekend, at this ice cream shop fave of locals, but also expect a variety of flavors and relatively inexpensive treats.
